HISTORY
SARNESHWAR MAHADEV JI is KULDEV of the royal family of SIROHI. It is Kuldev of the Deora Clan of Chauhans of Sirohi. The temple seems to be built in the Parmara Dynasty rue because its structure and layout are similar to other temples constructed by Parmar rulers. A temple may be renovated from time to time but the major renovation was carried on in the 16th century. In 1526 V.S. Apurva Devi, the queen of Maharao Lakha set the Hanuman idol outside the main gate of this temple. Maharao Akheyraj decorated this temple in 1685 V.S.

Sultan Alauddin Khilji had godly wrath and was horrified by leprosy, which was cured by Lord Shankar bathing with the water of Shukla Tirtha. Then the Sultan gave up and take an oath that he would never attack Sirohi again and with the money that he had, he surrendered to shiva and went away so that the inner wall and the sub-temple were built.
